The biggest curse of alchemy is that it has always been shrouded in mystery, with enough secret symbols, glyphs, and strange rituals and practices, to scare away all but the bravest or the certifiable. Often necessarily so, if you valued your life or your career prospects, (as in the case of Isaac Newton, who had to carry out his experiments in secret). Unfortunately this led to a hierarchical, male dominance of the subject that it is still in evidence today…
Consequently, even if I had read every book ever written on the subject before I began my own Jungian journey, I would be none the wiser, because I firmly believe it is an experiential journey of the heart. Neither do you need a faith or religion, in fact the only words I happened to read about alchemy were by reknowned french alchemist, Trogiani, ‘That the innocent child often succeeds, where the greatest minds fail’. Thus the purpose of this blog is to dispel all the jargon, hocus pocus and spin, and to tell it how it is, or at least how it was for me- a woman struggling with a health crisis, divorce, legal problems, money problems, emotional trauma from childhood, and three fledgling children to get out into the world. Moreover I intend to do it in a generic language that everyone can understand. Because one thing’s for sure I didn’t need any of the meaningless words I came to read later for the most profound universal gnosis to be revealed.
